I won't bother to take a look to verify (I'll leave that to the reader's curiosity), but I can say with certainty that it has been over a year since I have updated this blog. It is now 2023, and many things have happened and changed in my life since my last post. I won't expound here - there's been a Pandemic and the natural transient nature of life that we all experience, so no need. I will say that I haven't been without ideas, inspiration, and ongoing projects. But my reserve of energy has been devoted to all of that with little or none left for documentation. Hey, I'm grateful that the creative flow continues. But now I have a backlog to share. And as I have committed, with the new year, to revisit and refresh my website, this sketchblog comes with that mission. I could be overwhelmed at the prospect, but instead, I find myself ready to sink my teeth in wherever I can afford the spare time. And with Spring somewhere on the distant horizon, new life in tow, I thought this sketch I did awhile back of a budding tree might be an appropriate item to share. The image links to the video in which I created the sketch (which was early days in my [still young] YouTube journey), so it's pretty "cringey". Click if you dare. This is probably THE wordiest post this blog will ever see, since it truly is meant to be devoted to sketches. I just thought it was a good juncture to reintroduce myself.
To anyone perusing, hello! I'll be adding more sketches here soon, including some "before and afters", where I share an original sketch and the finished project for comparison. If you're interested in my work and the thought process behind it, I hope you'll check back! - Renée
