It has, admittedly, been quite a while since my last installment here. To be fair, as ideas flow, I'm not always afforded the luxury of time for experimentation in my sketchbooks. Leisurely exploration of ideas on paper seems to be a fond memory from my school days that I (every so often) promise myself I will get back to. Because I believe it's important to creativity, to inspiration, and even to brain health. But in the meantime, these days my ideas become virtual sketches in my brain while waiting in line, working on projects, taking a shower, or falling asleep. I skip straight to the physical execution of many ideas without the benefit of the basic exercise of sketching. Sketching is a beautiful thing, which I highly recommend, and should not be devoted strictly to planned projects. The meditative act of sketching should absolutely be employed for curiosity, distraction, exploration, and, well, fun. I'll be sharing more of my sketches created from this perspective, along with "work" sketches here soon. In the meantime, I wanted to share a bit of sketching that incorporates fun and work. Here's a video clip of a digital sketch I did recently to complete a design for my YouTube/Spring store. I created a text layout on Canva, then did my digital sketch around that: I enjoyed creating this design, and only regretted not having loads of time to create more in this vein at the moment. As always, with creating, I want MORE! This design can be found on items in my YouTube store, or by visiting the direct store page here.
